Travel Journal

In the June Holidays, I went to Kuantan with my group of friends and teachers who are also from Green Club to have an exchange with the Methodist Girls School in Kuantan. I made a lot of friends there and also had a lot of fun. Remember the times when we went to climb the hill together early in the morning. Waking up at 3+ in the morning to get ready to go for the morning climb. when we are climbing half way up, we keep hearing Lusha asking : "Are we there yet?" that was so funny. Finally, we climb up the hill and the time is just nice for us to watch the sun rise. Although this is not the first time i watch i sunrise, but its the first time i climb up the hill just to watch the sunrise and then so down the hill again. but despite all the difficulties that we faced to climb up, we had fun.

Remember when we had to attend a concert which is meant to be celebrating the Pahang Sultan's birthday, all of our school mates wore black dress. everybody was just like a black lady. hahahahahahahah. While at the concert, we had more interactions with our buddies. Actually after all, the most beautiful time we spent with them was the times when we were all on the bus. we were asked to sit beside our buddies and we had alot of chattings going on in the bus. Although some of us prefer to sleep, but we still spent time talking to them before we felt really sleepy. for me and my buddy, we brought alot of things for eachother and also brought some friendship band to represent our friendship.

During this Kuantan Trip, not only that i have learnt more about the Malaysia culture, i had also met alot of new friends. it is a wonderful experience for me as i had never gone to Kuantan before. furthermore, if not for this trip, i could never know that theres this place in Malaysia until my friends went there and came back to tell us more about it. i realy miss our buddies there. there are all cheerful and wonderful girls. although some of our friends who went there are boys, they dont mind talking to them and making friends with them. then even spent money to buy us things. they are really wonderful people. i hope that i could see them again.

General Election [Process Writing]

The PAP was able to win is because they have a good track record. They had governed Singapore for a long period of time and were able to change Singapore from a port into a country which is widely known by the foreigners. The “Garden City” is one of the impression PAP, the ruling party, had given the foreigners and attracting them to come over to Singapore. It is also because of the good track record that had made the citizens to vote for PAP.
The leader in PAP is also one of the main reasons why they were able to win the election. Our former Minister Mentor Mr Lee Kuan Yew is one of the most outstanding leaders in PAP who improved the citizen’s life in the late 60s and early 70s. Our former Senior Minister Mr Goh Chok Tong has also lead Singapore to a greater height when he is serving his term as Prime Minister. These leaders have brought Singapore to the international level. Thus, these outstanding leaders had won the vote from the citizens for PAP.
The trust that the citizens had gave to PAP for improving their life is also one of the key reason why PAP won the election. The citizens had believed that PAP will be able to change the life of Singaporean to the better if they continue to govern the country. Although some wanted a change for the ruling party, but most of the residents have trust in PAP that they will give the best to the citizens. That is why the trust from the citizens, wanting the PAP to improve their life is one of the key reasons that PAP had won the election.

Total Defence Day [Personal Recount]

It was 15 February 1942 when the British surrendered to the Japanese, the day when we commemorate Total Defence Day after the Japanese Occupation. Pupils from all levels in our school gathered in the field behind their class card.

In our school, we had to participate in the fire drill every Total Defence Day. We have to line up outside the class room after we hear the siren and followed the evacuation route down to the field. This exercise is to famillarise ourselves with the evacuation route so that we would know what to do if a fire really broke out in our school. We had to squad down while the form teacher takes our attendance.

After the fire drill, we were supposed to go to the hall. The audience, my friends and I, had to settle down before everything started. At first, the National Cadet Corps member (NCC) performed a skit on the war between the British and the Japanese. After that, Red Cross Youth also did a presentation on Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR). The Red Cross members also told us why we need to know how to use the medication in the first – aid box. It was very useful to us as some of us do not know what to do if someone was injured or had fainted. After the Red Cross presentation, the National Cadet Corps member performed a free style show too. It was very nice and wonderful show that they had put up. After that, we sang the song ‘Home’. I really like that song a lot as it really reminds us that we should always remember that there is a home for us to go back when we are feeling low.

After the performances, we returned to our class and Ms Sasi gave out the worksheet from the library. This Total Defence Day is indeed one of the most memorable one for me. I also learnt a lot of things for the performances like what to do if my friends are injured or had fainted.

International Friendship Day

Our school celebrates the International Friendship Day and I also presented the China Trip that I had gone during the December’s holiday in the assembly on that day. This day should be celebrated in our school as we have lots of international students. I believe that by celebrating this day, the international students will feel our warmth and will understand that we too, welcome them. As I had gone for quite a number of overseas trips with either the school or my parents, I am quite comfortable with foreigners around me. I believe that if we do not show our heart felt welcome to the international students, they will not find themselves comfortable too. I believe that they will find that Singapore is another home for them if we had treated them well. After all, they’re here to study and to make friends. It is nice to have a friend with different cultural. As Singapore is a multi racial country, we often find ourselves being around the other ethnic groups friends. It is not a bad thing though. I am actually very glad to have my international friends in my class. We exchanged knowledge and they also tell us about their homeland. It is a unusual experience as we know about other country’s culture without even going to the country. It will certainly be an exciting experience.

Personal Confession [Cross Country]

I know that I could not run fast so I did not take part in the Cross Country. I was doing my duty as councilors and I was with my friends chatting and helping the runners to take off their number tags. I am also helping out in the prize presentation and I was so glad that our class won in the team average score. After all, our class is still good at sports. :]] Although I did not run, I cheered for my friends and also whole-heartedly hope that they could do their best. Actually I hope I could run, but it’s because of my not sporty character had taken me aback. Even if I had to run, I will not run for the class. As if I am running for the class, it’s not just my own winning and it is also concerning the whole class’s average score. I would not like to be the one making the class’s score being pulled down. That’s my reason for not running. I hope I could do better in running next time.

Me, Myself and I

I went for the China Trip in the December’s holiday. Although I went, I did not bring my camera and that’s why I do not have any photos. Please allow me to write on the Malacca trip which I went with my classmates during the March holidays.
Although the Malacca trip is just a 2 days 1 night trip, I had learnt a lot of things from the trip. The trip is so fun and wonderful. We had so much fun and the most interesting thing to do during the trip which one third of the time is spent on the bus, is to look at the people who are sleeping on the bus! It was so fun! Taking unglam pictures and showing it to the whole bus was also fun. I had fun in the trip. But the sad thing is i could not upload those photos up as i do not know how to. so let me talk about it using words.

The whole sec 2 cohort went for the Malacca trip on the 11th of March, 2011. I think that our batch is so lucky that we have achange to go as a whole cohort and not for selected people only. i dont think the sec1s next year will have the similar chance as us. although i cannot predict the future, maybe they could? Before the trip, i was so excited till i almost could not sleep the night before the trip. i was imagining how awesome it will be to go overseas with the whole class. How will it strengthen our relationship as a class.

i went to school early that day. although i did not have a good sleep the night before, i was still feeling energetic. i think its because i am too excited. the first day in the bus is so wonderful. the whole bus is full of voices shouting here and there. although theres teachers on the bus too, but they also did not care much about us shouting here and there. while some people like me are still feeling energetic, some were already falling asleep. [i still could not understand how they sleep until the second day]. the roads were so bumpy and the bus is full of noise. all the people in the class were all so cheerful for once.

although the trip was suppose to be a learning journey and is for us to learn more about geography and history, we had fun all along during the trip. we brought so many food stuff and things along the way until we reach the hotel. before the trip, we had already heard from teachers that the hotel we are going to is a 4 star hotel, and we still believe it when we were in the lobby of the hotel. but it did not last for long. its only until we reached the corridors which was so dark and so creepy. we could not even find our rooms as the corridor is so long and with so many exits and lifts. luckily, we were with our group of friends. i could not imagine how am i going to find the room is i was alone.

the second day, which is the day when we were supposed to go back to Singapore in the night. i had a bad stomachache. which made me sleeping through the whole journey on the bus. [which also let me found out how my friends sleep on the bus the previous night.] luckily after i went for a walk in the butterfly park, i was fine. then later in the day, the bus became noisy again. people who are sleeping were being waken up by those naughty classmates who were awake. you could here the laughter from the behind of the bus even if youre infront as all our classmates who are playful always take up the seats at the back. at least they spared some thoughts for those who required peace.

in the night, when we are going back to Singapore, my friends and i started to play a game, toupo! which is to sit or lie on eachother and keep stacking up. of course, the person who are the first whos being sit on is the most unlucky one and the person is often being picked out to bully him or her. unforturtaly, i am one of the unlucky one. but i am also lucky that the person so sit on me falls and the people all went down instead of lying on me. hahahha:P i really love this Malacca trip. this is one of those trip which i enjoyed most. it stregthen our class's relationship and also let us have some sweet memories about the times when we were together to recall when its time for us to split our paths and continue with our lives.
